WHEREAS the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has experienced indoor recreational facility closures with the impacts of Covid 19; and
WHEREAS the Provincial Government has not limited the outdoor recreational activities such as toboggan hills to encourage outdoor exercise; and
WHEREAS the outdoor recreational activities are becoming more important and necessary for the wellbeing of the residents in the community; and
WHEREAS the outdoor recreational activities such as tobogganing have grown significantly in popularity due to the indoor restrictions;
THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council direct Staff to explore options to reshape or recontour the toboggan hill adjacent Park Drive to provide a north facing slope and look at other possible alternative locations for a new hill in Memorial Park that would provide safer access and where there is existing parking for resident use when tobogganing before the next winter season;
THAT Staff report back to Council with options for review, including funding within the current budget.
